Oh, hey.
If it’s your first time here, welcome. It started from a dream to share with people about my culture and the cultures of the Asian countries I've either lived in or traveled to and a desire to give back to my community. I've seen the rise of interest in Asian dramas, K-pop, manga, and other Asian-centric activities. Street festivals often feature food and entertainment, but they lack something that attendees can bring home with them and think more about. The Asian Summer Festival will feature sessions, workshops, and demonstrations so that people can learn more about Asians traditions. Why do we use honorifics? What is the significance of the tabo and bidets? What are the tea ceremonies followed by each culture? My hope is that this annual festival will foster understanding and a sense of camaraderie with everyone who wants to learn more about Asia. I’m an immigrant who has been so blessed and wants to share with the community, so I thought it was good to launch this festival during Filipino American Heritage Month because it’s one of my cultural heritages. Also, October’s a really nice month. It’s fall, everyone. 🎐🎊
