    Why do Asians use honorifics? Do you like Asian dramas? How about K-Pop? Why are anime and manga so popular? What is the tea ceremony? Want to learn some martial arts moves? Let's talk about these topics, along with Asian mythology and folklore as part of the educational programming at the Asian Summer Festival!

    If you would like to become a vendor for the festival, we have limited spots! Apply soon - the jury selection will take place in March. Selected vendors will receive an email with the fees and requirements.

Presenter Highlight:

Katrina Villavicencio - artist, Filipino tribal tattoos

Katrina Villavicencio is an award-winning artist, creative strategist, graphic designer, and tribal arts practitioner. She is passionate about storytelling through a creative lens, and has been researching and experimenting with indigenous Filipino tribal art for over 10 years. Through her work, she passionately advocates for education and preservation of Philippine ancestral arts.

She will give a talk and demonstration at the Asian Summer Festival. Participants will learn about the lifestyles and history of ancestral Filipinos, their use of tribal symbols, their connections to indigenous communities globally, and their relevance to contemporary Philippine culture. Through a henna demonstration, participants will be taught how symbols are used today to represent an individuals' stories—their family, career, identity, past, present, and future.
